Major Lincoln Harris runs a police precinct in the probably the nastiest portion of the city. A place called the Darkside. It's the bottom of the towers of the city. Anger those at the top and this'll be where you end up at- the bottom of the pile. And this is it for the city. Not much light gets down to the ground. Plenty of wind does. The towers act like canyons. So, a lot of trash ends up down there because of that wind. And I'm not talking about the litter. Lincoln deals with hell on a daily basis. His cops are corrupt. And the bureaucacy is stifling. There's nothing really that Lincoln do to combat the problems here. But Lincoln has his plans. Plans his superiors wont like. Plans that the topsiders wont like. Damn those topsiders. They act so high and mighty in front of their own. But where do they go to do their trash. Downside. And where do they throw their trash when they're done. Darkside. Ask Shay. Ask Gen. Ask them both all about it. They both have their secrets. And Lincoln knows what those secrets are. Shay and Gen are gonna help him with his plans. They just dont know that yet.

Bug is a happy child. While he's lost his original parents, he's lucked out and ended up with an unusual but extremely supportive extended family. Shay took him into his home, using a labor contract(child labor is legal). Not that Bug ever really worked, he'd help a bit when Shay had the shop in Darkside. the labor contract was the only legal way for Shay to have possesion of bug and get him into a proper school. As a second class citizen employing a non citizen, Shay's rights are extended to Bug. Bug goes to school for learning to assist Shay in his trade. Everybody knows that the labor contract is about the only way a secondclass citizen can adopt a child. When Shay moves in with Lincoln. Lincoln formally adopts Bug as his son. Now according full first class citizen rights upon Bug. Bug really doesnt know much of what problems swirl around him. Shay and Link try to give him as much as possible a happy childhood. He knows he's luckier than most demon kids. He knows he has problems with the world because he is a demon. But he has parents that will protect him. And at the moment they can. The question is as his magic gets stronger, will they be able to continue to hide him from harm

Genzo My notes about gen- body style is more fluid than 'jo His body is more of a teenage boy. Wears oversize hapi to add bulk in body. Gen is not happy with body shape- too childish. This is how body was "programmed". He was essentially bred to look like a young boy - to stop growing at a certain age. There ways around that. Gen's been taking growth hormones-has increased n height n bulk in past three years- he's now 5'10-5'11. He wears a'remodified' battle suit. Most likely it's a stolen model from the grizzlies. All serial and id tags have been removed, but they know its theirs but there's no way to prove it. Lincoln did not give the suit to him. His hair is pretty much to shoulders... maybe a bit beyond.... pretty much blond so he can die it different colors. From time to time, he does streak a bang portion to match the colors of his contacts. He'll change the color evry other month. His contacts make retina scans difficult and hides his natural eye color. He's got a past he's kept hidden. Only Jo and Shay know it. One important thing - he is very protective of Jo! Dont get in between the two of them.

Bronco is the head priest at the bhuddist temple in Darkside. A very compassionate man who served in the military during the demon wars. He became a priest to help absolve his sins of having to kill to survive. He is Ozen_Sama's closest friend. His temple sponsors an orphanage and a school in Darkside. He knows Shay and Lincoln from his war days. In fact, he was talking to Shay about adopting a demon child from the orphanage when bug wandered into the picture. Realizing that there was already a bond between the two, he faciliated the paperwork where Shay "hired" bug as a child laborer. He does a lot of good in Darkside and is a respected member of the demon community- often acting like Lincoln does- as a liason between the demon and human communities when problems arise. Ozen has told him what Bug is and Bronco has pledged his support in protecting Bug. But Bronco is worried currently that he may have spies in his temple, because there is word on the street about a new demon messiah.

O-Zen-Sama In the end, it was Ozen's choice that made his people settle here on Earth not as conquerors but as captives. His reasons for doing this are myraid but his own. No one knows for sure why he allowed his army to surrender. Link thinks ozen realized that once the doorway to the demon's world was shut down, ozen realized that he could not win the war. Historians postulate that the demon army could have survived for another three years. And the end of result would have been total annihilation of the demons and over 10 billion more people dead on the Earth's side. 'Jo thinks everybody's asking the wrong question-not why did he surrender but why did ozen lead an attack force to Earth in the first place. Whatever his reasons, Ozen negotiated his surrender thru link. Most of the demon people settled in Azmaitecla. Some stayed close to where their interment camps were. There was one in The City. Most of the demons there live in Darkside. Ozen has come there to teach the demon children there of their heritage. In actuality, he has come to the city, to protect bug, his heir for his powers. ozen is dying. he expected too. the earth is not his homeland. before he dies, he wants to make sure he has a new leader in place to help his people to continue to adapt to their new world.

Akujo My notes about Jo. Called 'jo by gen- everyone picks it up from him. Akujo was the name assigned to her in her release papers. Her vindictive exlover was the head of a house. In the house language, aku means evil;jo means woman. Gen's statement about this is: He gave her that name. She has to keep it and use it but I don't. Call her 'Jo. Akujo no longer has access to the rejuvenation drugs she took when she was in the house. She is slowly aging. Looks to be in her older 20s-30s. Her looks vary depending upon exhaustion or cycle. Very unusual -For a woman of her age(over a century), she still is fertile and her pms dreams are prophetic. She is a short woman-bout 5'4. Her hair is worn short to shoulders- varies in style of page boy to bob. She dyes her hair with browns to hide gray. More cautious in body mevements than Gen. Think of someone hiding in background. Wears subdued clothes in color and shape. Nothing form fitting.Except for a battle suit that is worn under her dresses. Think chameleon-invisible person. Think of an injured predator forced to hide while it heals. She is building up her power while she breaks down the limiters on her soul- Gen realizes slowly that she is a mage who could destroy the city he hates and loves.

Ran is a rich kid from the one of the most influential towers in the city. What is he doing running with Shay and Genzo. That's his secret. He's a reclusive bastard who scares Gen to his bones. Gen thinks his image of a rather shy ineffectual gentle giant is a complete sham. He's got the aura of a man with a vendetta on his mind. Those people dont fear anything. And as Gen has found out- a bit of cowardice goes a long way in keeping you alive. Also he seems to know about Jo's past though he denies it. And Shay's too. He doesn't know Gen's but he's digging. It's only a matter of time, before he finds out who exactly is Genzo! But right now he's paying their bills. His project- he's got them hunting down the Desolation Angel.He believes that the Desolation Angel exists and that the angel must be found and nuetralized. Otherwise, one day, The Desolation Angel will destroy the city.
