and how it all began....
Foreword
In actuality you could say, i guess, the roots for Desolation Angel started five years ago with the dream that Jo tells Genzo. I had that dream. It was a very sad dream. Over the years, I've tried to write it down and draw it out- but I never could. And so it sat in the back of my head, waiting.

And then, Genzo started it all.In the beginning he was a background throwaway chracter sketch for a panel in Mansion. He looked interesting. I just got my palm so I could write while I'm not at my computor. Anyway, I was looking into the palm reader aspects. of it and thinkink how cool it would be to do something like load up a daily installment through your palm reader for the day. Well, images stil aren't good for palms. And palms'll have to be more digest sized to do what I want it to do. Anyway, as part of this I researched the character and came up with a story for him. Which I write daily on my palm. I'm unsure as to whether I'll make it more illustrated novel or graphic novel. If it's illustrated it'll go quicker and maybe I can use one of these print on demand systems. This was two years ago and people doing print on demand graphic novels hadnt really started yet. Right around this time, when I was hashing things out, tokyo pop announced their manga contest. and at that point became a comic. In retrospect, snapshot dreams, with its story of falling towers and the evil folks in them was probably not what they wanted- well, the dream was there long before the trade center fell. and also my style while derived in bits and pieces from the manga style, has its own style, i think. Well, I think it's very japanese to borrow what you need and make it your own. It's also very american. IMO. So, DA got pushed to the backburner(one of those projects i'll finish when I get the time) until I checked out the Duck. And then I thought To myself. Wow, this'll be a great place to ressurect Desolation Angel. So, if you're liking the story, Thank the Duck for it.
